Falling Back Into Routine: How to Reset Your Home Yoga and Meditation PracticeLet’s talk about that post-summer haze where your mat starts collecting dust and your meditation cushion becomes a footrest. I get it, I'm totally guilty too! It happens to all of us. Suddenly with a thunderstorm (at least this is how I feel it happens where I live) Summer is over, and all the extra extraneous of Fall hits like a ton of bricks or a yard full of leaves!
Fall rolls in with all its pumpkin-flavored bullshit (but on the real I love that pumpkin-flavored bs lol) and suddenly we’re spinning with back-to-school energy, holiday anxiety, and a calendar that looks like a horror movie. I love Fall, but honestly it kicks off anxiety season for me (and I live in Miami so HURRICANE season is also in full swing...uggggghhhhhh!!!) OH and let's not forget about falling back an hour and it's dark as midnight by 6pm.
So how do you fall back into your yoga and meditation groove without making it feel like another freakin' chore? I got you!
This is your permission slip to go full Pinterest Witch. Autumn is sensual, so lean into it.
Light that delicious candle.
Pull out your cozy socks, and fuzzy blankets.
Make your practice space feel sacred AF.
Smell is powerful, so burn the good incense.
Put on a playlist that hits your soul.
This is your vibe zone.
Don’t start with a 90-minute vinyasa and 20 minutes of pranayama unless you’re really feelin’ it.
Start with 5 minutes on the mat. And build up from there.
Three rounds of box breath (you'll probably end up feeling great and adding a few more rounds anyways)
One sun salutation or just take a child's pose and marinate.
You can also just sit and breathe. That’s yoga, too. (for real)
If you can keep your yoga/meditation space ready at all times even better!
We don’t need a total overhaul, we need micro-habits that feel delicious and keep us coming back for more.
Tea time? Add a breath practice. Or recite some mantras as the tea steeps.
Morning stretch before coffee? Turn it into a cat/cow flow. Sign up here for my Free Series: 5 Days to Reset Your Practice
Add a journal sesh before or after your morning social media scroll (or just replace the scroll with 5 minutes of brain dumping)
Treat your yoga like your Zoom calls.
Put it in the calendar.
Set the reminder.
Invite someone to join you: hello accountability partner.
And honor it like your mental health depends on it, because guess what? It abso-f*cking-lutely does.
This is a reset, not a punishment. You’re not “behind” and you don’t have to “catch up.” You’re a f*cking human, not a productivity app. Breathe. Move. Reset. And if you need some inspiration or guidance, Here's a link, I'll drop by your inbox with my new series: 5 Days to Reboot Your Home Yoga & Meditation Practice. Come chill, move, and breathe with me and we'll take Fall by the gourds! 😂🎃
